UNITED EARTH SHIP ON STATION: UES CORNWALLACE
“Can you tell which one it is?” Admiral Romero asked the captain standing next to him. They were both standing on the bridge of the UES Cornwallace, the newest ship of the Earth Union Navy. It was a destroyer. A pill shaped vessel, some six hundred feet in length that terminated in three large cold fusion booster engines that

My letter to the strong
Dear, Free...
I wish I had your courage, you society of nameless voyagers.
I wish I had the strength to forego the thoughts of this sphere.
And let go of all my fears.
I wish I had your courage, to ignore the inhibitions between my ears.
To hold me back to keep me on this pointless track--
I wish I could step away, into that flurry of dizzying lights, or onto that peak of immeasurable heights.
And throw it all away, to watch my life burst into white, and flutter down like freshly fallen snow.
The sickly white and red shards would vanish forever in that flurry, and dissolve away into this lonesome ball of cosmic dust.
Cursed to return to that powdery state, I wish to schedule my trip early, if only I had the courage of voyagers.
I'd make that journey past this monotony, from the eye-shattering lights, and slippery steep heights, into the world of peace and dark.
But I am afraid of those speeding lights, and dizzying heights, that fall and that shatter robs me of my courage and I always

Temper Tantrum
I think the old men of this world have come to realize that for too long they have been caught in the muck and mire of the ways of the past.
Frustrated that they will never be able to see a future where hope exists, and happiness lives--
They, like Satan, that ancient dragon, throw a fit of anger because the future world will never be theirs
They conspire to create wars and hate, intolerance and division, so they might destroy the hope that their sons and daughters were born into.
--Don't let them steal our future; lock them away and let them throw their tantrums all on their own.
we must not be a part of it...

Yeah, I've been working on a short story for a little while entitled Guns of the Union, and well, I've finished it, or, rather, I've finished the first volume and the little comic book prologue that goes with it. I'm not an amazing comic artist, so don't expect anything like from marvel or DC, but I think the prologue is interesting enough and the art isn't half bad, at least in my opinion. The story is a bit of hard science fiction, with no FTL, or faster than light travel. I tried to tell a story of interplanetary politics, and how Geopolitical situations might get out of control when the human race is spread out through space, so far away from the central governing bodies. It's not groundbreaking, and I'm not reinventing the genre of science fiction, but I hope that it's a fun story. Specifically I hope I described space combat in a realistic way, trying to separate my space battles from the stylized sort of combat we see in Star Wars and the newer Star Trek films. Think submarine warfare in space and you'll sort of get the idea. I'll be posting the prologue tomorrow and then the rest of the story in chapter segments. I hope people find GOTU entertaining, and...fun?
Anyway, just a short update. Stay creative, and stay inspired.
